Sharon Stone is an American actress and fashion model. Stone began modeling in New York City in the late ’70s and made her film debut in 1980 as an extra in Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories. Her first speaking role came in 1981 in Wes Craven’s Deadly Blessing. Let’s get to see more about the talented actress.

Stone became a household name in 1992 thanks to her performance as Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a motion picture. She’s also known for her role in the 1995 film Casino, for which she earned a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Other notable film roles include parts in Sliver in 1993, The Specialist in 1994, The Quick and the Dead in 1995, Sphere in 1998, The Mighty in 1998 and The Muse in 1999.

Stone was married to Michael Greenburg from 1984 to 1990 and Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004. She has three sons.

Do you know about Stone’s health issues?

Sharon Stone said that since suffering a stroke and brain hemorrhage in 2001, she has not been able to get as much acting work. “I had a stroke in 2001, I had a 1 percent chance of survival, I had a 9-day brain bleed,” she said, hosting The Hollywood Reporters Raising Our Voices luncheon gala.

“I recovered for 7 years, and I haven’t had jobs since,” said Stone, 65, at the event, which focused on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in Hollywood.

“When it first happened, I didn’t want to tell anybody because you know if something goes wrong with you, you’re out. Something went wrong with me — I’ve been out for 20 years. I haven’t had jobs. I was a very big movie star at one point in my life.”

Does Sharon Stone has any children of her own?

Stone is yet to birth any children of her own. As such, she took the path of adoption first in 2000 when she and her then-husband Phil Bronstein adopted their first child together, son Roan, 23. In 2005, she adopted her second son, Laird, 18, followed by her third son, Quinn, 16, a year later.

Why has Stone not birthed any child of her own?

Stone has been open about the several tragedies she’s endured throughout her life — both before and after becoming a mother — including multiple miscarriages.

“We, as females don’t have a forum to discuss the profundity of this loss. I lost nine children by miscarriage,” Stone commented on a PEOPLE Instagram post in 2022. “It is no small thing, physically nor emotionally yet we are made to feel it is something to bear alone and secretly with some kind of sense of failure.”

Stone’s first child, Roan Joseph Bronstein Stone was born on May 22, 2000.

After six years of marriage, Stone and husband Bronstein divorced in 2004 and were given joint custody of Roan. The former couple agreed that their son would live primarily with his father in San Francisco during the school year. In 2008, however, Stone challenged the agreement and sought to move Roan to Los Angeles with her, though a Los Angeles judge denied her request. Still, Stone and Roan remained close throughout his childhood.

Two years later, Roan petitioned to change his surname to honor both of his parents.

Now 22 years old, Roan is pursuing acting and also posed for Odda magazine in 2020. According to his mother, he is even a “gifted glassblower.”

In May 2005, Stone adopted her second son, Laird Vonne Stone,18.

“I have been trying to adopt a second child for years, with general fits and starts,” Stone told PEOPLE at the time. “So I didn’t totally, totally believe it until he was in my arms.”

Although Stone’s children aren’t typically seen in public, Laird has made a few red carpet appearances alongside his mother over the years. In 2017, Roan and Laird walked the red carpet for the premiere of A Little Something for Your Birthday.

That same year, Laird praised Stone as he and his brothers presented her with the Mother of the Year Award. “My mother deserves this award,” Laird said. “I love you, mom,”

He’s also appeared on Stone’s Instagram feed. In 2021, Stone posted a collection of family throwback photos with the caption, “And then we were four.”

While speaking to PEOPLE in 2018, Stone shared that Quinn was the quarterback of his flag football team. “Today I got texted video clips of the game, and it’s such a thrill for me,” she said.
