Why is Emaza Gibson suing Jason Derulo?

Jason Derulo is in hot water after singer Emaza is suing him for sexual harassment. In the lawsuit, Emaza claims she was signed to Jason back in 2021 but was dropped after she denied his sexual advances.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Emaza explains how she was excited to sign with Jason after she decided to go solo when her sisters left their group Ceraadi. He promised her that all her dreams would come true, but unfortunately, it was the exact opposite.

From the beginning, Emaza claims Jason would pressure her to drink even though she wasn’t a drinker. She said that once he told her that she might have to take part in “goat skin and fish scales.” When she looked the phrase up, she learned that it was a type of ritual that involved sex, drugs, and animal sacrifices.

The lawsuit states that Gibson considered Derulo’s statement an “explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success”.

The lawsuit also alleges that Jason often displayed aggressive behavior towards her. After a meeting to discuss her music with Atlantic Records, the two had a disagreement and Jason allegedly verbally degraded her.

Then months later, at his house, they had another discussion and he allegedly charged at her and yelled in her face. After that incident, she never saw Jason again, then she found out she had been dropped from his label.

Emaza and her mom tried to get answers, but no one was truly willing to hold Jason accountable for his actions.

“I’m at this point in my life right now, it’s very heartbreaking,” Emaza said. “I have anxiety; I’m traumatized. I’ve dealt with inhumane work situations. I’m at this point where I’m back to zero and I have nothing. “I’m just trying to fight for what’s right, because what was done to me was not OK. And I wouldn’t want anybody else to go through what I went through. They wasted my time. They promised me things.”
