During Motown Night, Dancing With the Stars competitors had an opportunity to display their soulful sides. Some performers continued, others got evicted. Let’s check them all out.
Madix, 38, and Pashkov, 37, made the decision to honour the late father of the reality star in their Foxtrot.
“I grew up listening to Motown. That was, like, my dad’s music,” Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix told partner Pasha Pashkov during rehearsal on the Tuesday, October 10, episode. “My dad passed away in 2013, and he never got to see me even be on Vanderpump Rules. So, I think it would be a dream of his to see me performing on a stage of this magnitude.”
After the Supremes’ rendition of “You Can’t Hurry Love,” judge Derek Hough remarked, “Ariana, your dad would be so proud, honestly.”
In the meantime, Carrie Ann Inaba stood up from her chair to embrace Madix. She exclaimed, “That was amazing!”
After Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach got the top score earlier in the episode, Madix and Pashkov got a top score of 34, and became the second team of the season to receive a “9” from one of the judges. The performances of other duos during Motown Night, however, were less successful.
Who were the worst performers of the night?
Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson, Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart had the worst scores at the conclusion of the night. Johnson, 29, and Beckford, 52, were ultimately disqualified from the contest.
Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson were eliminated, their performing song was “Master Blaster (Jamie’)” by Stevie Wonder and they had a final score of 20
“Thank you for everything. We put in some hard work, but one slip, and that was it for us,” Beckford said to Johnson after the results were announced. “I apologize.”
Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart with the Quickstep dance moves performed with “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 and had a final score of 22. They were lucky to escape elimination.
During Motown Night, one couple’s DWTS adventure came to an end, while other couples proved to the judges they have what it takes to advance in the competition.
After their Foxtrot, Inaba, 55, told former Bachelorette Charity Lawson, who had missed last week’s broadcast due to COVID-19, “You took my breath away.” Artem Chigvintsev had also performed with Lawson. “You were gliding. You were like a princess skating across the floor.”
Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev chose the song “My Girl” by the Temptations and had a final score of 32.
Judge Bruno Tonioli praised Lawson as well. “Charity, you are going for gold. I mean that really was a gold standard Foxtrot,” he remarked.
Lawson, 27, grew up with her father listening to Motown, just like Madix. David Lawson, the father of the Bachelor Nation personality, even attended her Motown Night practice to offer his support for her and Chigvintsev, 41.
Charity said her Motown Night song, “My Daughter” by The Temptations, would be “ideal for our father-daughter dance when I get married” after becoming engaged to Dotun Olubeko earlier this year during her season of The Bachelorette.
