Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, recently celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary, and he is living out the lyrics of his 2022 hit song, “Praise the Lord.”
“I thank God for you every single day. I love you so much. Thank you for loving me and everyone you know so well. Happy anniversary,” the country star, 33, wrote on Thursday, October 12, alongside three Instagram photos of him embracing Akins, 33.
Rhett continued to think back on how they met when they were both preteens and how their relationship developed.
“11 years married to this amazing woman. I can still remember what she looked like in first grade,” he added. “I still remember how much taller than me she was at church camp in 6th grade.”
Six years after their initial date, at the age of 22, Rhett and Akins got married.
“I still remember picking her up on our first date at 16. I still remember how fast my heart was beating when she walked down the aisle,” he continued his caption.
Five years after their nuptials, Rhett and Akins declared in 2017 that they were adopting a young girl from Uganda named Willa Gray, who is now seven.
Three girls were also born to Akins: Ada James, age 6, Lennon Love, age 3, and Lillie Carolina, age 23 months.
Rhett Akins has numerous happy recollections from his time spent knowing Akins for more than 25 years.
“Basically I remember it all so vividly. I can’t believe how much life we have gotten to share together,” the singer concluded. “@laur_akins you have been and always will be my best friend.”

Akins shared an Instagram tribute of her own, with family photos that included the couple’s four daughters. She wrote on her post, “What 11 years with you looks like happy anni cutie.”
Rhett is excited about the upcoming year in his career. He will perform at the 2024 Country Jam Colorado music festival, it was revealed the day before his anniversary. The three-day festival in Mack, Colorado, from June 20 to 22, will also feature performances by Parker McCollum and Jelly Roll.
