On stage in Baltimore on Wednesday night, Will Smith startled his estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith by confessing his love to her.
“I just really wanted to come out and just be here and hold it down for you the way you have held it down for me,” the Oscar winner confessed to her during his appearance at the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
“We have had a very, very long and tumultuous [relationship]. We call it ‘brutiful.’ It was brutal and beautiful at the same time,” he said, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Stunned, Jada couldn’t help but show emotion as she covered her mouth with one hand while her estranged husband spoke. She was at her alma mater, Baltimore School for the Arts, to promote her memoir “Worthy”
Together with their daughters Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22, the couple was also joined by Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, who was celebrating her 70th birthday.
The family also welcomed Trey Smith, Will’s 30-year-old son, who he shares with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
According to the Baltimore Banner, Will Smith claimed that the couple’s troubled marriage has been a “sloppy public experiment in unconditional love.”
“As I stand here before you today, I am happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life,” he shared. “I have achieved every single thing I have ever wanted in my entire life.”
“There is not one thing left that I desire in this world — all of the awards, all of the money, the family — everything I’ve ever dreamed,” he added.

The “I Am Legend” actor thanked Jada for supporting his family and profession and stated that Jada’s sacrifices were primarily the foundation of his goals.
He also expressed his gratitude to the mother of two for parenting Trey, Willow, and Jaden.
“Can you show up and love somebody for the rest of your life, even when you don’t agree with them?” Will said. “Jada is the best friend I have ever had on this planet, and I am going to show up for her and support her for the rest of my life.”
When Will finished his speech, Jada referred to him as “babe.”
The 52-year-old “Girls Trip” actress last week disclosed that she and the Oscar winner have been living separately since their separation in 2016.
Jada talked about the couple’s current situation as they work to “heal the relationship” on Wednesday.
“Will and me are good,” she told the audience. “All the people who don’t understand and got something to say are just going to have to fall in line.”
