Her estranged husband, white police officer Derek Chauvin, was caught on camera, kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for nine minutes, stopping him from breathing until he died.
Floyd could be heard pleading “I can’t breathe” while Chauvin ignored bystanders’ pleas to get off his neck. The African-American man later died.
Chauvin was fired from the Minneapolis police department and his wife left him.

At the time, prosecutors said they owed the state more than $37,000, including unpaid taxes, interest, and fees.
