Despite not being born into a wealthy family, he has become a successful entrepreneur whose name will forever be remembered in the history of Ghana.

Explaining how he became successful when speaking at the University of Health and Allied Sciences 6th Leadership Lecture Series in memory of the late President Evans Atta Mills, under whose tenure the University was established, he started his business by advancing his mother’s table-top stationery business into a Printing Press with a capital equivalence of three dollars.

According to him, after his second cycle of education, he quickly grabbed an opportunity to establish a printing press to meet demands in 1995. This gave birth to the Jospong Printing Press, which he established with a loan of GHC3.00.

With perseverance, commitment, and the guidance of God, Dr. Siaw managed the printing press efficiently and has since established several companies, hence the accolade “serial entrepreneur” bestowed on him.

Although he came from a long family with 17 other siblings, he was able to establish his first business from his mum’s bookshop and entirely managed it when she fell ill.

He went ahead to establish the Excellent Building and Construction Limited in 1996 and the Appointed Time Screen Printing Company after 4 years when he got an opportunity to print t-shirts for political parties during the 2000 electioneering campaign.

Upsurge in filth in Ghana leading to challenges in public health prompted him to set up Zoomlion Ghana Limited in 2006, which has become one of the leading waste management firms in Africa.

Zoomlion has since evolved from using locally produced tricycles to modern sophisticated waste management equipment, including road sweepers, and roll-on roll-off vehicles.

Dr. Siaw didn’t stop there, he is currently pursuing the objective of recycling waste and producing fertilizer to help curb the perennial shortage and hike in prices of the product in Ghana.

He eulogized the Late President Mills for his contribution to the development of his companies and his sheer leadership traits.

He indicated that “true leadership entails the continuous search for innovative solutions to our collective problems” adding that “true leadership entails serving our community and our country with humility and selfishness. Prof John Evans Atta Mills, the statesman, in whose honor we are having this commemorative event embodied these leadership skills

Today, after consecutive years of success, an award-winning company Zoomlion Ghana Limited has brought forth other waste management companies in the supply chain, thus providing total and integrated waste management solutions nationwide and in five other African countries.
