What happened to Jehad Mheisen?

One of the leaders of the terror group’s security forces, Jehad Mheisen, was killed at his home in Gaza City on October 19.

The top commander was killed with his family in the neighborhood of Sheikh Radwan, a Hamas-aligned news agency said.

His death was a result of an Israeli airstrike that hit his house.

His death comes just days after another Hamas top commander was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

Ayman Nofal, who was in charge of the Central Gaza area in the armed wing Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades, is the most high-profile Hamas militant to be assassinated so far.

Nofal’s death came hours after the IDF confirmed it had killed senior Hamas official Dr Osama Mazini.

Dr Mazini, who was understood to have been the Primary Hamas Negotiator for the 2011 prisoner swap, was taken out in the blast.

He handled the file of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier held captive by Hamas in Gaza for five years.

Israel has been pounding neighborhoods across Gaza including parts of the south that Israel had declared as “safe zones.”

It comes as British PM Rishi Sunak met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his two-day visit to Israel.

Mr Sunak vowed to stand with Israel against “evil” and stressed “the imperative need to avoid further escalation of violence in the region.”

His visit came after US President Joe Biden visited the wartorn country yesterday (October 18) and pledged his support for them against the terror group Hamas.

The US President said he was “sad and outraged” by the al-Ahli Hospital blast that killed hundreds but said it appears to have been done “by the other team.”

He urged Israel not to be “consumed by” rage and to avoid making the same “mistakes” that the US did after September 11.
